| Derek Lee Injury Man, you've gotta feel for those Cubbies. In yesterday's win over L.A. 1B Derek Lee sprained his right wrist. X-rays were inconclusive.
"Lee, the reigning NL batting champion and a two-time Gold Glove winner, was injured on a freakish play in the Dodgers' seventh," writes the Associated Press. "Rafael Furcal led off the inning with a bunt single to the right of the mound, and reliever Scott Eyre dove for the ball before flipping it toward first base with his glove. The ball sailed over Lee's glove as Furcal crashed into him at the bag."
Eyre was also injured on the play, by the way, and he and Lee join pitchers Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, Wade Miller and Angel Pagan on the list of injured Chicago players. Those four are all on the DL; wonder if Lee and Eyre will be joining them any time soon. |
