Derek Lee Injury

Man, you've gotta feel for those Cubbies. In yesterday's win over L.A. 1B Derek Lee sprained his right wrist. X-rays were inconclusive.

"Lee, the reigning NL batting champion and a two-time Gold Glove winner, was injured on a freakish play in the Dodgers' seventh," writes the Associated Press. "Rafael Furcal led off the inning with a bunt single to the right of the mound, and reliever Scott Eyre dove for the ball before flipping it toward first base with his glove. The ball sailed over Lee's glove as Furcal crashed into him at the bag."

Eyre was also injured on the play, by the way, and he and Lee join pitchers Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, Wade Miller and Angel Pagan on the list of injured Chicago players. Those four are all on the DL; wonder if Lee and Eyre will be joining them any time soon.

The curse live on?...why don't they forfeit their games until everyone is healthy? ...and so much for Derek Lee duplicating his great season...I can't pick on the guy...at the height of his triple crown chase I was selling Derek Lee cards on e-bay for full book value....thanks Derek!

Re: Derek Lee Injury

Those Chicago Cubs have something going on. I can't describe what is going on in the clubhouse. I don't know if it is the team meals or the Cubs' training exercises--but somehow all the team's stars get injured.

And that is the problem in professional sports. Is it worth trying your hardest out there risking an injury and losing your team's playoff hopes, or should you play conservative and decently and not risk an injury and at least keep a little hope the playoffs?

The Cubs have nothing on my brothers fantast team, he also has 5 guys on the DL...sometimes its just not your year...or in the Cubs case, "not your halff century."

Re: Derek Lee Injury

Did I say wrist sprain? Oops. Looks like the team spoke too soon. Broken wrist for Lee, out 8-10 weeks.
