Greatest Cub in team history...

The Cubs long and colorful if championship void history can offer many great players. And one greater than Rajah Hornsby or Mr. Cub Ernie Banks? how about Billy Williams? Fergie Jenkins anyone? or maybe an oldie but goodie like Hack Wilson?

Re: Greatest Cub in team history...

well Ryno was good ........ but to have the name Mr Cub just says it all

off topic (i know how unlike me) if youre doing all the teams, seems it could be possible to make a case for some players on more then one team

Yes, I was going to do them all 5-6 a day to help out the MLB Mod transition phase...

And right you are...but which players?...like as good as Reggie Jackson was in both Oakland and New York, I can't see him taking that New York title you know?

Re: Greatest Cub in team history...

well i agree they may not take the title, but they should be in the discussion

like Clemens for Boston and Toronto .......... of course he wouldnt likely be picked for Boston, but he should be in the conversation imo

I like a lot of these guys, Ryno, Williams, Wilson... but come on, man. It's gotta be Ernie Banks! He's Mr. Cub for cryin' out loud!

Re: Greatest Cub in team history...

I would also go with Ernie Banks. He was the greatest Cub. Why is there no Sosa in this discussion. He had 3 seasons in a row that will never be duplicated IMO as a Cub.

I think if Banks was Mr. Cub

You got to say Ryno was Mr Cub 2b

and Sosa (while they loved him) was Mr Cub latest generation.

...and is Banks getting a bit extra love for being dubbed "Mr. Cub" here?

Re: Greatest Cub in team history...

Wow, I completely forgot about Mark Grace. He is one of my all time favorite players. He was a Cub his whole career and led them to the NLCS in 1989? when they lost to the Giants. Was he great enough to get some votes in this discussion.
