MESA, Ariz. (AP) -- Prior and Wood were placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, meaning theCubs will start the season without both star right-handers. Neither move came as a surprise, as both have been rehabbing from injuries. The moves were retroactive to March 27.

Yeah, I think we all saw this coming. Both have been injured SO frequently that you really have to start to wonder about their futures, not just as Cubs but as MLB pitchers. How long can a team afford to place their hopes on a pair of pitchers who year in and year out always seem to spend a ton of time on the DL? I'm just wondering, that's all.

Its really not as bad as it seems guys. We have Angel Guzman, Hill, Marshall, Rusch, Miller and Williams. That is a pretty decent staff. Hey its not the NY Yankees or the Braves but if you add Zambrano into the mix in May, just maybe, just maybe....Besides...all the Cubs have to do is score five runs a game...and keep it under that into the seventh. From what I hear they have a killer bullpen.

Help me out here. I am a die hard Cubs fan transplanted to Memphis. I read the post about Zambrano being injured and have yet to find anything to substantiate this. Considering he pitched Wednesday I would say that he is OK

I was curious, mamijole, so I checked it out. Turns out he's OK after all. According to a report at Yahoo! Sports: "Cubs.MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports Chicago Cubs SP Carlos Zambrano will start his second consecutive opening day."

Thats right Lefty he is scheduled to start opening day. He is followed by Rusch, then probably Maddux and then Marshall. I think Zambrano is a lock for 20 games. Rusch has pitched well and could get 20 as well. Maddux is always a potential 20 gamer. Am I being too optimistic?
