Cubs Sign Cliff Floyd

Today the two agreed on a one year deal with a mutual option for 2008.

Floyd is a Chicago native and I'm glad he was able to join the Cubs. He was nothing but a professional for the Mets and I do think I'll miss him a bit as a player.

Well, this was expected. I know a lot of people see him in a reserve/spot starting role, but I find it hard to believe that Floyd will be limited to playing like that. If he's healthy, he'll work his way into the lineup every day. That's my theory, anyway.

Floyd was a tremendous talent when he came up, but he can't keep himself off the DL...he won't play full time...only someone like Eric Davis is more brittle...

I don't really think that he will start. Jones and Soriano are def starters. And Murton really is not that bad of a player. He was rocky at the beginning of the year last year, but it was his first full season as a starter. But by the end of the season, he led the team in batting average, and he has signs of being a good player.

Cool Re: Cubs Sign Cliff Floyd

The under/over is 40 games as to when Floyd goes on the DL.
