Cubs Baseball

The Cubs have lost the last two. On Tuesday their loss came from the Rangers and today the Padres. In the last two games, they have given up five home runs and only hit two. Pierre, the CF from Florida looks good with an RBI in one game and a SAC in another. The same goes for Mabry our 3B with a couple RBI's against the Rangers. Maddux had a couple scoreless innings vs. the Rangers but had a couple walks. Maybe if we mentally focus on the Cubs really hard they will do better. Anyone wanna help?

Re: Cubs Watch

Relax and take a deep breath, pete. The Cubbies will be fine. They've got some guys dinged up, and they lost Carlos Zambrano, Michael Barrett and Derrek Lee to the WBC. It is a little disconcerting to hear all this talk about Dusty "not wanting to be their" and just managing out his contract, though. I haven't gotten to see any Cub game yet this spring - does he look as apathetic out there as I'm hearing?

Re: Cubs Baseball

Kerry Wood and Mark Prior would get hurt just posting threads on this website! Forget about the Cubs folks and concentrate on the up and coming Brewers!

Re: Cubs Baseball

Lefty,
I heard the exact opposite. Every night on ESPN they are featuring a team and the other night it was the Cubs. Joe Morgan said that he had dinner with Dusty and that Dusty really wants to be there. It is kind of obvious that Dusty is not the Dusty that was at San Fran. I don't know how to say this but I think that the Cubs organization is more interested in being cute that in being competitive. If you were Dusty Baker would you rather coach the Giants or Romper Room.

Cubs lead off

In the Cubs win over the Angels, Mabry continues his RBI streak, and Pierre got another hit. For some reason I think that this guy Pierre is the key. Have the Cubs ever had a good lead off hitter? The last guy I remember that was any good in the lead off spot for the Cubs was Dernier in '84. Can anyone think of a good lead off hitter for the Cubs in the last 20 years?
