I am just wondering if I am the only Cubs fan that hates the Padres as much as I do. I can still remember the 1984 National League Playoffs. There was no wild card and only two divisions per league. The playoffs were still three out of five instead of the long four out of seven. Does anyone have fond memories like these? The problem with 1984 is that after being up 2-0, the Cubs who gave one up to Mr. Clean Steve Garvey failed again to reach the World Series. I have hated the Padres ever since. Does anyone else share my sentiments?

In response to your question, Dude. I thought every Cubbie fan hated the Padres after that 1984 debacle. I'm not a fan of the team myself, but my dyed-in-the-wool-Chicagoan friend Steve laments that series every year come playoff time and another .500 season for his team, replaying hated Padres play by hated Padres play, especially that darned Steve Garvey.

Heck, i'd be cheesed off at the whole of Major League Baseball for the crummiest pre-Selig decision in decades, i.e. having them play all four in San Diego. Couldn't Comiskey Park have been used, at least? I don't think the 'Sox were anywhere near the playoffs that year...
