Both 3B Aramis Ramirez and RHP Kerry Wood agreed to contracts that will keep them in Chicago for the time being. Ramirez who opted out of his previous deal signed a brand-spanking new 5-year, $73 million deal. Wood signed a 1-year, $1.75 million deal.

Keeping Ramirez is huge as he should remain one of the top offensive 3B in the NL. Wood is expected to be moved to the bullpen and see if they can salvage his career.

This is great for the Cubs. I really hope that Woody can get back to form. I remember sitting at home and watching that game his rookie year when he had the 20 strikeouts. He was flawless and it looked effortless. I also looked like a bright carear was in store. I hope he can turn it around, he still has some good years left in the tank.
