The Bears have decided to go with Kyle Orton as the starting quarterback for the team’s preseason opener, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Coach Lovie Smith announced that Orton will get the nod for Thursday night’s game against the Chiefs at Soldier Field.
“Don’t look into any of these decisions that we’ve made right now,” Smith said. “It’s a starting spot, and there’s no rhyme or reason as to why we’re going this direction. It’s just the way I want to go right now.”
The former starter, Rex Grossman, will be the first quarterback off the bench.

Apparently were not supposed to look into it but I will anyway. Errr not really 100% sure with the decision. Rex did lead them to a superbowl not too long ago but they did lose to the Colts.

It clearly would be a tough decision but I think in his shoes I might start Rex but give him a warning too. Tell him that he is far from secure with that job and if he starts to flop at QB then throw in Orton.

Plan 2, have a fair QB competition during the Preseason games, alternating between them. I know it's not a good idea to put a starting QB in the 4th or sometimes 3rd preseason game but they dont know who the starter is yet.
