The Bears have decided to go with
Kyle Orton as the starting quarterback for the team’s preseason opener, according to the
Chicago Tribune.
Coach Lovie Smith announced that Orton will get the nod for Thursday night’s game against the Chiefs at Soldier Field.
“Don’t look into any of these decisions that we’ve made right now,” Smith said. “It’s a starting spot, and there’s no rhyme or reason as to why we’re going this direction. It’s just the way I want to go right now.”
The former starter, Rex Grossman, will be the first quarterback off the bench.
