BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- Chris Simms is expected to report today for the first day of training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

How long he stays with the team remains to be seen.

A rift between Simms and coach Jon Gruden has developed since the quarterback last was on the field before suffering a nearly fatal spleen injury in September 2006. Simms has made no secret he wants off the pirate ship, and the Bears have long been mentioned as a possible landing spot. But at what price?

The Bucs are carrying five quarterbacks on their roster, including ex-Bear Brian Griese and disgruntled starter Jeff Garcia. With camp roster limits at 80, carrying five quarterbacks would force Gruden to be thin at another position.

I like simms and think he can make a comeback, bears would be wise to get him..

NOO! Not to the Bears. I had my eye on him for a backup to Romo.
We need to know exactly what he can do yet. If he is really healthy, I would think he would be an improvement over Grossman and Orton.

I gladly take him because out of the two QBs the Bears have, Simms has the most potential, I am sold that Grossman isn't a starter is the NFL, I don't know about Orton or even Simms yet, but I be very happy if the Bears got him.
