| Lovie: Benson is our starting running back Bears coach Lovie Smith says Cedric Benson "is our starting running back right now." "For someone else to be the starter, they’re going to have to beat him out," Smith said. "Matt Forte has never played a down for us. He’s like all other rookies, starting from the bottom and working his way up ... I’m hoping that Cedric will get back to form." Bears coach pleased with Brown's offseason progress - Chicago Bears |

Every1 is talking about Benson is this, Benson is that, the issue is not about Cedric Benson, nor the team, but the whole Franchise itself. The team is run by morons from higher up the chain. If they drafted a good RB in the first round like they should of done, they wouldn't have this issue now, but NOOOOO, they have to draft a OT in the first round, some good it will do them come the start of regular season. If this team is going to do the same thing every season, then they will have alot of bad season. Just look at the cowboys this season, their chances are high on making it to the playoffs this season, heck they might be superbowl contender. |

| Re: Lovie: Benson is our starting running back The Bears should of drafted more offensive line, two wide recievers, a safty, a quarterback, and a running back, all in the first round. What were they thinking. |

What kind of a Fantasy world your living in, come down to earth and watch, and study football. A good Offense is built around a good QB and a solid Back, not the other way around (building around linemen). Walter Payton didn't have a good line neither did Barry Sanders. Sure i understand why alot of people in this forum want a offensive linemen in the first round cuz it's a sure-bet (Low Risk and the rewards could be benefitting). Now Look at a Good solid RB in the first round (High Risk a Hit or a miss) if it's a missed release him and if its a hit, the reward is very high look at Adrian Peterson now, i bet you all the teams that pass him up for some else is kicking themselfs in the head. Now the bears got, let me see the new OT from 1st round, Kreutz a overpaid center, tait another overpaid linemen, Brown soon to be retired and a few not worth mentioning, but they still got them sorry QB and RB and matt forte well we will see how he'll do come regular season. |

| Re: Lovie: Benson is our starting running back No, I disagree. Games are won and lost in the trenches. Walter Payton DID have a good offensive line -- just look at the 1985 team that had Jimbo Covert, Jay Hilgenberg, Tom Thayer, et. al. Barry didn't, and how far into the playoffs did the Detroit Lions make it without one? Your quarterback can be the best in the world and if he doesn't have time to throw the ball, it's meaningless. And while it's true that a truly great running back can make up for poor blocking, a merely good one gets nowhere without having someone open up holes for him.

My point that i'm trying to get across is the bears don't need the O-line that it has right now, they can't use it for someone like grossman and some of them get paid more than decent receivers (Overpaid). Get rid of Kreutz, Tait, and Brown because they are clearly sucking up the cap room and use that money to pick-up decent receivers. Getting Marty Booker is no big thing and signing Brandon LLoyd is another Big Mistake. Does the Morons whose running the bears actually think they have a good chances of making it to the playoff this season with the roster they got now, COME-ON GET REAL. If they had sign Jeff Garcia after the '06 season like they should of done, they would have gone far to the playoffs with alittle trading here and there getting Micheal Turner would been a better choice back then. |
