Maybe shorter term contracts. Put a limit on how long they can go. But until that term is up, both sides honor it. Yeah, if you sign a contract you should honor it. But so shouldnt the owners. I'm with Goth on this. Why does the burden fall on the player?

And I think no player signs with intentions of honoring it because they know that their is no intent on the other side either...what's more...look at how teams go after bonus money now as well...a contract is worth nothing these days...I think all it is, is one step in a career long negotiation...

Money squabbles in sports make both sides look ugly. And if a team cuts a player who is under contract I thought that they still have to pay that contract. Isn't that what a contract is? A guarantee on both sides? I thought like the Seahawks for example cut Shawn Alexander for cap room but Alexander is still going to get paid. I guess i'm wrong?
