What the Fans Think

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – According to recent poll results on the main page of ChicagoBears.com, Bears fans think that quarterback Rex Grossman will start the season opener, the Bears should select an offensive tackle in the first round of the draft and the Bears defense will rebound in 2008.

When asked whether Grossman would start the opener, 68.2 percent of the 16,032 respondents voted “yes” and 31.8 percent chose “no.” Grossman and Kyle Orton will compete for the No. 1 job after both signed one-year contracts.

In a poll that asked which position the Bears should address in the first round of the draft, 44.6 percent of the 39,113 respondents chose offensive tackle, 26.5 percent selected running back, 16.4 percent picked quarterback and 12.5 percent chose wide receiver.

When asked where the Bears defense would rank in total yards after free-agent linebacker Lance Briggs was re-signed, 76.1 percent of the 19,176 respondents voted between 1 and 8, 19.1 percent chose 9-16, 3.2 percent picked 17-24 and 1.6 percent selected 25-32. After ranking second in 2005 and sixth in 2006, the defense plummeted to 28th in 2007

Re: What the Fans Think

If you are starting Grossman, take a big back...Stewart or Felix Jones should be on the board when they pick.

Re: What the Fans Think

I sincerely hope they fix the offensive line, but even if they pick the best possible, they won't gel on day one. Gonna take some time, so I think the starting job is Kile Orton's to lose. Best thing about Orton, is he can buy some time, like I said before, a poor man's Tony Romo.

Incredibly, the Bears record for all-time passing yards still belongs to Sid Luckman from the 1940s and 50s!

That is amazing...but this franchise has had the likes of Vince Evans and Bob Avalini...what do you expect....oh and Grossman...

My personal favorite was Bobby Douglass the running QB that ran for over 900 yards in 14 games in 1972.

That is incredible. How long until this team actually gets what can be considered a franchise quarterback? Another 50-plus years?

Re: What the Fans Think

They are the Bears. For some, you just have no choice, but to love them, anybody else just wouldn't understand.
