Not a good day The Bears needed to sign Berrian. Without him the Bears offense looks like crap now imo. What FA is going to come to the Bears? I'll tell you, the player that's at the end of his career and looking to get paid. You have to be kidding me. Look at this line up. QB: Grossman, Orton, and a Rookie QB taken in the draft. RB: Benson who if didn't have 2 years left on his contract wouldn't even be on the team. Peterson who should be the #3 back if not on the team at all is the # 1 / 2 back. He's a better ST player than a RB. Wolf. We don't even know what he can do. I don't see the Bears signing a top FA RB like M. Turner. It looks like they will draft a RB in the draft as well. WR: What a joke. Mark Bradley who I like, but he's been hurt every freaking year and he's our #1 WR? Hester. Alright he's fast but he's also a PROJECT. Davis looked like he was going to bust out after the 06 season but did nothing last season so who know's where he's at. Wrap it up with Hass and Rideau and the Bears are needing to draft a WR, a QB ,and a RB. TE: Olsen and Clark might be the only bright spots on the offense. OL: There are some holes that need to be filled there as well and other teams are signing them. There is a lot of work that needs to be done on the offense, and it can't be all done through the draft and the Bears have done nothing since the FA signing period started. I'm disappointed to say the least. And signing Briggs is not going to make anything better but lets hope the Bears can at least do that.

Re: Not a good day Yeah, Angelo goes from hero to zero real fast.

Re: Not a good day Than why did they re-sign Grossman, and why do they still have Benson if they are gettting rid of what/who didn't work? You are right the Bears are going to have to be REAL lucky in the draft. Berrian was not the problem, the problem now is that the Bears lost Berrian the TE's are better looking WR's than their WR's.

Re: Not a good day I'm not a Benson fan, but the O line was really, really bad, so with a better O line, and the fact that they spent so much money on him, I can see him staying. Please don't get me wrong, there are so many other running backs that I would like to have instead of Benson, only way I can see replacing him is if they get lucky in the draft, and get a stud cheap. As far as Grossman goes.... Lets say you buy an old car. A classic muscle car from the sixties. It's in real bad shape, a basket case. Almost every part is rusted, or broke. That's how I look at the Bears right now a car with almost absolutely everything wrong with it. Two more things to complete this analogy. You do not have unlimited funds to restore it, and this car is your only transportation. It does run, but it's leaking oil, the smoke from the tailpipe reminds you of fogging for insects. The engine is the quarterback. You could spend all your money on a new engine, but the car has no wheels, and you need it Monday morning to go to work. The wheels are the O line, running back, receivers, take your pick, get the idea?

Re: Not a good day That's a good analogy WH. I hope you don't mind if I steal it for myself. I don't know where the OL got better though. Miller is gone and I can't remember if they let R. Brown go as well, but Outside of Tait and Olin everyone else is suspect imo. The Bears are going to need a OLman or two. The Bears are also going to need a QB, RB, WR, and a DT. These are high price guys if they are worth a damn and the Bears need them to be worth a damn. It seems to me that the Bears are going to look to the draft for all their help but they could have done themselfs a big favor by going after a FA WR or RB. Instead, we are hoping that the Bears get a blue chip QB, RB, OL, WR, and a DT in the draft what are the chances of that happening? With knowone to catch the ball and knowone to protect the QB and knowone able to run the ball it's looking like a long season for us Bear fans.

Re: Not a good day Brett Favre retired. Personally I admire Brett greatly, I think he was a great football player, and you just had to like the guy, just had to feel for him when his dad died, but this thread is about it not being a good day, just thought I'd point out that this is the best day in the last twenty years for the Bears.
