INDIANAPOLIS – The agent for receiver Bernard Berrian, linebacker Lance Briggs and special teams standout Brendon Ayanbadejo doesn’t expect any of them to re-sign with the Bears prior to the start of free agency Friday.

But Drew Rosenhaus told reporters over the weekend at the NFL Scouting Combine that that won’t preclude his clients from ultimately inking contracts to remain in Chicago.



“At this time I would project that those guys would at least get to free agency or at least the beginning of it,” Rosenhaus said.
“But the Bears are going to be in the mix as we continue to talk with other teams. We’re going to have a good, healthy dialogue with [the Bears].”

After agreeing to a one-year contract with quarterback Rex Grossman Saturday and a two-year extension with tight end Desmond Clark Sunday, the Bears are hoping for similar resolutions with Berrian, Briggs and Ayanbadejo.

“Certainly we’re going to be in the mix,” said general manager Jerry Angelo. “We can’t control players going into free agency. We’ve talked to Drew about his players and he knows how we feel.
