| Garza Meets the President of Mexico ![]() CHICAGO – One week after visiting the National Palace and Teotihuacan Pyramids during his first trip to Mexico City, Roberto Garza had an even more memorable experience Tuesday in Chicago. As a special guest of the Mexican consulate, the Bears guard had a front-row seat as Mexican President Felipe Calderon addressed more than 1,600 members of the city’s Mexican community at an invitation-only event at Little Village Lawndale High School. After delivering an impassioned 30-minute speech, Calderon stepped down from the stage and was introduced to Garza, who presented the Mexican President with two Bears jerseys—both bearing Garza’s No. 63 with the president’s name on one jersey and his wife’s name on the other. “It was really something that I’ll remember for the rest of my life,” said Garza, whose family emigrated from Mexico to Rio Hondo, Texas, about a year before he was born. “It was a great opportunity to be in the front row and see the president be passionate about what he’s planning for Mexico and how he’s going to help the migrants who come to the United States to work to give their families the opportunities that they don’t have in Mexico.
