Re: Brian Urlacher Has Neck Surgery; Bears Cross Their Fingers

The "minor" surgery performed was speculated to be due to a herniated disc or pinched nerve. Any serious operation such as "spinal fusion" would have benched the Best linebacker in the NFL for at the very least a whole season. Most of us who cant afford the surgery just either see a chiropractor, or suffer through the pain. In other words, its not career threatening...(slow your role Goth!!) Urlacher will be back to lead the once again dominant Bears defense next season!!!! p.s. The only time I've seen a Brian Bosworth highlight was when he was getting ran over by Bo Jackson. Comparing him to Urlacher is like comparing Cedric Benson to Walter Payton...it should never happen!

Hey, it's his life....all I know is he already has a chronic bad back...if the glory is worth experiencing pain the rest of your life, then who am I to get in Urlachers way...go man go...go get that glory and live in the moment...

...and the Boz might be Benson to Payton...but he nevertheless was bounced out of football over an injury...even the great Butkus in the 1970's was a crippled shell of his former self...

Re: Brian Urlacher Has Neck Surgery; Bears Cross Their Fingers

Not trying to pick on you Mr. Goth, but riddle me this....how is Bosworth's name once again brought up with PROVEN players, who were injured towards the end of their hall of fame careers. I realize were getting off of the subject of Urlacher, but once again you mention an individual who has the distinction of being ranked the 6th BIGGEST flop on the list of biggest flops of the last 25 years (as voted by ESPN, July 2004) He had a decent couple of years and his potential was high, but he's better off playing a stunt double in the next available comic book movie...to the bat cave!!!

You Bears fan are wound up a tiny, tiny bit too tight ...but I appreciate the whole batman spin you put on the post...so props to you my good man...

I liked Boz, but I am not saying he is in Urlacher's or Butkus' company...hell half of the LB Hall of Famers are not in their company...all I was saying is...he was never the same after a serious injury...(Bo Jackson aside)...and he called it a career before his whole body went to hell...but I am sure I wll have to explain that point a few dozen times more...so come on, next Bear fan that did not understand my take...step up and take a swing...

I can also see that Bear fans are not happy unless their warrior is carried from the field of play in a stretcher or casket...

I...will...speak...very...very...slow...for...my ....fellow...Bears fans...to...understand... me......better?

So let me recap...you are basically saying that as Bears fan you want your ultimate warrior, Urlacher, to risk that chronic back of his, and his slightly damaged neck on a few more seasons of glory...or semi glory?...I guess if they wheel him to his jersey retirement in a few years, it's when Bears fan will shed a tear, and not a moment before...did I get it right that time?

Re: Brian Urlacher Has Neck Surgery; Bears Cross Their Fingers

They may be in denial Goth. Heck, so would I be if I were them.
But for now, it looks like it is a pinched nerve. That doesnt necessarily mean that his neck is weak. He has an arthritic back, but I dont know how bad it is.
If he has arthritis in his back, it could be that he has it in his neck too. That's what happened to me.
I believe he will be back this year, but looks like the handwriting may be on the wall Bears fan. Start getting used to it.

By the way, my arthritis did sideline me.

Yeah, it did. I can take down the 14 month old without any problem, but I have a hard time getting up. When I hit the 19 year old, they had to carry me out on a stretcher. And forget bending over in any shape or form.
