Idonije wins Offield Award

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – A versatile performer on both defense and special teams, Bears defensive lineman Israel Idonije is also a valuable contributor off the field in the Chicago community.

Through his work with the Israel Idonije Foundation, the four-year veteran from Manitoba is among 12 active NFL players who’ve been selected as recipients of a prestigious JB Award.

The awards are presented through a partnership between the NFL Players Association, NFL PLAYERS Inc. and James Brown, host of “The NFL Today” on CBS.

Each season Brown selects 12 award recipients from 32 players—one per club—who are nominated by teammates for their commitment to achieve excellence off the field through building better communities and stronger families.

One of the JB Award winners will receive the Byron “Whizzer” White Award, the NFLPA’s highest honor, at an annual gala April 4 in Washington, DC. The gala recognizes NFL players who exemplify leadership, dedication and commitment to team and community.
Other JB Award recipients include Kurt Warner (Cardinals), Warrick Dunn (Falcons), Matt Stover (Ravens), Braylon Edwards (Browns), Roy Williams (Cowboys), Brian Waters (Chiefs), Chris Draft (Rams), Kassim Osgood (Chargers), Marques Douglas (49ers), Mack Strong (Seahawks) and James Thrash (Redskins).
