| Bears' Punter to be Inducted into Ball State Hall of Fame LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Bears punter Brad Maynard will be one of five Ball State alums to be inducted into the school’s Athletics Hall of Fame Feb. 8. Maynard just completed his 11th NFL season and seventh with the Bears. As a student-athlete, he lettered in football at Ball State from 1993-96 and capped a brilliant career by being the first punter ever named an NCAA Division IA conference player of the year. In 1996, Maynard was named the MAC’s Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year. He was named a first-team All-American on 13 different teams in his final two seasons, plus was invited to compete in the Senior Bowl and was extended an invitation to the NFL scouting combine. He set the school and MAC records for career punt average (44.22 yards) and was a three-time All-MAC First-Team selection. Maynard was selected in the third round of the 1997 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, where he spent his first four NFL seasons. Maynard to be inducted into Ball State Hall of Fame - Chicago Bears
