Re: 2008-2009 Free Agents

I'd like to bring back the two that are not going to be back imo, and that is Berrian and Briggs. Brown is old, maybe you bring him back for a year. I think they will bring back Ayanbadejo. I don't think Gilmore will be back unless he gets paid the Min. I don't know what they will do with Grossman. I can't see the Bears bringing back all three QB's and there is no way they can sign Grossman to a long term deal imo. If Briggs doesn't come back than I feel the Bears have to use the money re-sign Berrian if they can. I thought (WR) Davis was a FA as well? I don't like the looks of Moose, Bradley as our starting WR's. Bradley hasn't shown anything the whole time he's been with the team, and he will be a FA after this upcoming season.

Nope Davis isn't a free agent, I want to see Ayanbadejo back and that is really it. I don't think Briggs will be back, I have no idea about Berrian or Grossman, and could care less about Gilmore.

I think the 2 you have to worry about are Briggs and Berrian. I don't think either will be back though. Briggs wants the long term big contract, and Berrian will get paid somewhere. He is fast and is a dangerous deep threat. I would concentrate on the draft.

They can easily replace Briggs because Jamarr Williams (his back up) was very good in his couple of starts.

But without Berrian the Bears will have no home run treat can could be in trouble.

9 do u think that if berrian go's that hester could play a more increase roll in that deep ball game and could he fill the void, atleast compensate 4 it? he has played pretty well when in there.

I think Hester will get a bigger role either way, but definitely if Berrian goes.

Re: 2008-2009 Free Agents

I would love to have them keep Briggs but I think he will be asking for too much. But linebackers are the one position the Bears seem to be able to fill. I guess playing next to Urlacher can make a lot of people look good.

Re: 2008-2009 Free Agents

I think the team must re-sign Ayanbadejo, he is a big part of the Bears one solid unit (special teams). I'm sure alot of people don't want Briggs back, because of his comments before last season about not wanting to be a Bear. But the truth is, he is a huge impact player for the team. I believe he was second only to Urlacher in tackles last year. As far as the QB/WR situation, until they bring in a MUCH better quarterback, its not going to matter what wr's they keep. (Remember when they signed one of the elite wr's of that time Muhsin Muhammad) only to see his numbers drop... 2004 with the Panthers 93 rec. 1405 yards 16 td's..the very next year ...with the Bears (2005) 64 rec. 750 yards 4 td's (he only has 12 tds total in his three seasons with the Bears. They need to make Rex an Ex, and explore new options at the qb position...in my opinion!

Welcome aboard, BearFanJerry, and thanks for joining us!

I think most people are in agreement about Grossman. The only problem is, where do you go from here at that position? Free agent? Draft?

Re: 2008-2009 Free Agents

Most people agree, I don't. The Vikings are a team that needs a quarterback, they have everything else. The Bears have a need at so many positions, including wide receiver. Berrien dropping somebody else's passes won't help. Devin Hester is a great return man. He is obviously not a receiver, not yet anyway.

Re: 2008-2009 Free Agents

grossman has got to go!! briggs and berrian are must re-signs. brendan is a pretty good st player so unless they find some one better than him sign him as well. brown is very old cut him.

i would like to see michael turner and cedric benson be a dominating two-back bulldozing tandem in the nfl. Benson was better as a 2nd string back. Plus he only seems to do well enough when he is competing for his job.

I know his pricetag might put him out of reach but derek anderson would be a good fit.

Also available in free agency that looks interesting are:

Jared Allen DE
Terrell Suggs DE
Antonio Bryant WR
Bryant Young DT
Albert Haynesworth DT
