| Hester NFC special teams player of the week.....again LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Bears superstar Devin Hester on Wednesday was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in last Sunday’s 34-31 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Hester returned a punt 89 yards for a touchdown to give the Bears a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter. The score enabled him to tie Gale Sayers’ club record with eight career punt and kickoff return TDs. Hester later caught an 81-yard TD pass to tie the score 31-31 with 1:38 to play. In 22 career games, Hester has averaged a TD on every 13.3 kick or punt return, the best ratio in NFL history. Brian Mitchell holds the NFL record with 13 combined kick returns, a mark that he set while playing in 223 games. Hester has now been named Special Teams Player of the Week five times in two seasons, including twice this year. He was also named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September.
