The mother of the young son of Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher claims that Urlacher sent her numerous hostile text messages.

The disclosure was made in response to a petition filed by Urlacher regarding allegations that the mother, Tyna Robertson, has violated the terms of a visitation order.

Urlacher's lawyer said he hasn't reviewed the document, and he referred generally to her alleged history of not telling the truth. For example, she once claimed that "Lord of the Dance" star Michael Flatley has raped her, but a judge threw out her $35 million lawsuit against him.

Still, it should be easy to confirm that the messages came from Urlacher's device. Or that they did not. What does she plan to say if the court wants to see the messages? "I lost my phone last night"? "I accidentally erased the messages this morning"?

The alleged messages contain the perfunctory use of the "F" word, and various other profanities and indignities. The most troubling message, in our view, was an alleged assertion from Urlacher that Robertson is "raising a little p*ssy," in reference to his son.

We're not sure how this all will work out, but in our view Urlacher's biggest mistake was getting mixed up with the woman in the first place. And, if he sent the messages, in not realizing that he might see them again.

In court documents filed Friday, Tyna Robertson alleges that her son's father, Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher, sent her text messages, including:

Jan. 23, 8:51 p.m.: "F - - - You"
Jan. 25, 6:59 p.m.: "Im def going to the super bowl so get them pulled whats the big deak"
Jan. 25, 7:08 p.m.: "Shut up you're an idiot ill do it myself next he comes to stay with me"
Feb. 2, 12:28 p.m.: "You're a f - - - - - - fruit cake why the hell would you come down here you know im busy you always gotta be in the middle of s - - -"
Feb. 12, 3:05 p.m.: "Im not sure yet but it will be this weekend"
Feb. 14, 3:52 p.m.: "Your f - - - - - - nuts I just got done with a long season of work you wouldn't know what that's like so Im taking some time off"

I dont think this is true, at least I hope its not true.
Of course, if he was stupid enough to get involved with her knowing her history, then maybe he is stupid enough to send the messages. Good thing hes not that stupid on the football field.

Yep..he's an idiot. But okay, it'sa hostile relationship and I am sure this is going both ways...What's at stake here anyway?...more money...less visit/...what?...If I was the judge I kick'em both out of my court and make them take madatory parenting classes...together...how's that for a hell?

That's not a bad idea about the mandatory parenting classes together.

The phone compainies can verify the messages. Punish them by not allowing them cell phones ever again. Now that would be a real penalty. I hate them but would be lost without mine.

On Tuesday, Bear linebacker Brian Urlacher testified in connection with an ongoing custody battle relating to the two-year-old son that he fathered with Tyna Robertson, a former exotic dancer who once claimed that Michael Flatley of "Lord of the Dance" fame had raped her.

In paperwork submitted in response to the petition, Robertson accused Urlacher of sending her numerous profane and abusive text messages, including one message in which he said that she is turning their child into a "p*ssy."

When asked about the messages on the witness stand, Urlacher said that he didn't remember sending them.

"I don't remember" is the classic safe harbor for folks who are under oath. It happens all the time. People who don't want to tell the truth in situations where the truth might be adverse to their interests but who know that if they deny doing or saying the thing that they are accused of doing or saying, they'll be walking right into a perjury trap.

The problem is that the folks who offer up this lame-ass excuse when testifying don't realize that the lawyers and the judges involved in the proceeding have heard the same bogus crap time and again. And the fact that folks like Urlacher choose to use "I don't remember" as a crutch make it harder for people who truly don't remember certain facts or details to be believed by folks who have become jaded by those who abuse it.

Brian, be a man. If you sent the messages, say so. In your specific case, "I don't remember" is for, well, p*ssies.
