| Bears fire Ron Rivera Has anyone else heard about this? I know I was stunned to read the headline from the Chicago Sun-Times, which is reporting "the Bears told Rivera his services as defensive coordinator no longer were desired. No matter how you dress it up, it was a firing, and in an ironic twist, Rivera -- the popular former Bears linebacker who interviewed for six head coaching positions in the last two months -- went unemployed for only a couple of hours, signing a contract Monday night to join Turner's staff in San Diego." Reactions to this? Seems like a strange thing for an NFC Championship team to do.

| Re: Bears fire Ron Rivera He wasn't fired ... his contract was not renewed ... the talk on the street is that he is not Lovie's guy ... Lovie wants to run the cover 2 and Rivera wants to go back to the 46 defense that made the Bears famous in 85. He wanted to put more pressure on the opposing QB's with the LB's. Rivera wanted to make the change next year ... and since he was DC .. was pushing this idea. So Lovie told him to push the idea somewhere else. |

| Re: Bears fire Ron Rivera My thoughts were to let Lovie Smith go .. and promote Ron Rivera to HC. 1 Rivera is a former Bear. 2 He would have been much cheaper than Lovie will. 3 We would run the 46 again. 4 He knew all the players and the staff already 5 The stats show that the team that loses the superbowl doesn't make the championship the next year ... usually .. so why pay a guy $4 million a year to not make it back? Don't get me wrong .. I like Lovie ... but I am under the impression that the Head Coach in the NFL is only as good as his assistants. |

Interesting, stuff like that can't be seen by reporters. If the coaches have a philosophical difference when it comes to defense (both their specialties), you can't expect them to be lovie dovie (no pun intended). |

| Re: Bears fire Ron Rivera I personally like Rivera's idea better. It would put Urlacher in a more attack mode instead of dropping back covering TE's. I think if we get more pressure on Peyton, we have a chance in that game. He throws stupid balls too when pressured all the time. |
