Lance Briggs free agent

According to NFL.com, the Chicago Bears could place their franchise tag on free agent LB Lance Briggs.

Good move? Will Briggs be a Bear next season?

Re: Lance Briggs free agent

The problem with the Bears personnel mgr is they think they can insert anyone in Briggs spot and have similar results.

They thought the same thing with Rosevelt Colvin and he went to the Patriots.

I would be surprised if they designate him franchise player. They just don't want to get off the cash ...

I heard somewhere that part of the problem with franchising him is that it would make Briggs the highest paid linebacker on the team, and they're concerned about upsetting Mr. Urlacher. Think that might be a factor?

I am sure that is another problem .. I just dont see mgmt wanting to pay him regardless of the issues.

They would rather insert someone new there next year ...
