NFC Divisional Playoff: Seahawks vs. Bears

This will be an interesting game. The Chicago Bears defense (because you know their offense is putrid) vs. The Seattle Seahawks. Will Shaun Alexander and Matt Hasselbeck be able to produce against one of the best defenses in recent memory?

It's always fun to see playoff football at Soldier Field IMO, but I don't see their offense producing enough to win. I'm going with the upset and Seattle Seahawks.

NFC Divisional Playoffs - Bears vs. Seahawks

Well, the questions about Rex Grossman will finally be answered next week as the Chicago Bears host the Seattle Seahawks in the early game on Sunday. Will the Chicago QB be good enough to beat the defending NFC Champs? No. Can the Bear defense pick up the slack if he isn't? I think so. Chicago wins this one, but it'll be close, say, 13-10. What does everyone else think?

Well, Being from Seattle I can not be un-baised...BUT.. IF the Seahawks can select their offensive plays even a LITTLE Better (Coach Holgren stunk at play calling Saturday) the team has a good chance of winning.. If Jeremy Stevens, (Seattle's TE) can have another great game (rare this year !) again, seattle will have a good chance.. Seattle's patch-work defensive backs will be the big question..losing 3/4 of your starting DB crew is tough for any team to solve.
The team that has the best play selection will win. Rythem is very important..Seattle won the game this past saturday WITHOUT any play call rythem !!
Go Seahawks !

Hey, Larry, welcome to GoTeamsGo. Great breakdown of the game -- hope you take a moment to register and talk some more football with us! With the Hawks secondary being so dinged up, Grossman will never have a better opportunity to break out of his slump. I just don't see him doing it. He doesn't have "it" -- that quality of leadership and smart decision-making that an NFL passer needs to have. His teammates don't have faith in the guy. The key here, in my book, is the Bears D vs. Alexander and the Seattle rushing attack. Whoever wins that battle wins the game.

Re: NFC Divisional Playoffs - Bears vs. Seahawks

Here in the Chicago area, he's bee called "Good Rex/Bad Rex" for weeks now, due to his yo-yo performance over the season. We only know that he has never submitted two "Bad Rex" games in a row, so we're hoping he wakes up in time to save the season, at least for a next game. Brian Griese is no salvation, so we just about HAVE to live or die with Rex. Gulp.
LOL.

Re: NFC Divisional Playoff: Seahawks vs. Bears

yee of little faith ... Rex will lead the Bears to the next round.

The Bears are for real ... Maybe Cedric Benson will start getting some carries! He has been a lot better than Thomas Jones down the stretch.
We need to use him to bang up their defensive line so that Rex gets some time to throw.

Rex will throw for 200 yards and 2 tds...

The Bears win

24-13

Cool Re: NFC Divisional Playoff: Seahawks vs. Bears

Welcome to Goteamsgo renalgland.
John Morgan of Field gulls puts it in good perspective.
Quote:
After hours of pouring over play-by-play, scouting reports and stats the best I could figure is the Hawks must run the ball successfully left: Meeting or exceeding four yards on first and ten and converting short yardage for first downs. It sounds simple, but the Hawks have struggled running from their once mighty left side all season, while the Bears run-stopping right side has done anything but.
Field Gulls :: An Unofficial Seattle Seahawks Blog
Personally, I don't see anyway that the Hawks can run the ball on the Bears.

Re: NFC Divisional Playoff: Seahawks vs. Bears

Seems like the media is giving the Seahawks no chance. I just don't see the Bears offense has doing enough to kill them outright. Sure the Bears defense is great, but I have a feeling about Hasselbeck and Alexander.

Cool Re: NFC Divisional Playoff: Seahawks vs. Bears

By Zachariah of Windy City Gridiron defends Grossman:
Quote:
I'm really gettin tired of alot of you sissies bad mouthing Grossman, and Lovie Smith for having faith in him. Last time I checked QB's dont grow on trees, they don't pop up out of nowhere, they don't become MVP's with their first full season of starting, so why are we willing to run ours out of town? How bout we all take a step back and look what we did in the past year, umm lead a team to a 13-3 record, the best in the NFC, home field advantage.
Windy City Gridiron :: A Chicago Bears Blog
I agree with him. I think Grossman will play well today.

Re: NFC Divisional Playoff: Seahawks vs. Bears

Missed the 1st few minutes. 0-0 in the 1st. Sounds like it's been mostly Thomas Jones running so far? No bonehead moves by Grossman yet?

Re: NFC Divisional Playoff: Seahawks vs. Bears

Bears take the opening drive and score a TD. Grossman had a key 37 yard pass and there was alot of Thomas Jones including his 9 yard run into the endzone.

Re: NFC Divisional Playoff: Seahawks vs. Bears

Grossman's been held in check. Jones scored the first TD of the game.

Bears should have had the pick there.
