Panthers Draft Outlook

The Panthers had an unexpectadly good year in 2009. They made the play-offs , however were eliminated quite quickly. The Panthers as of now do not have a 1st round draft pick, it has been traded to the Eagles. However there is talk that Julius Peppers wants out of Carolina, this could result in a higher pick, but as of now, that is just as rumor. So we will have to work with what we have now. There is also a possiblitly that the Panthers will want to get rid of Jake Delhomme. If this is true, they may consider drafting a quarter back. They also may be looking to work on that defensive line. So this is who I think the Panthers will take 1st pick.

MY PICKS:

1. Nate Davis- QB- Ball State

2. Connor Barwin- DE- Cincinnati

3. Evander Hood- DT- Missouri

(Nate Davis)

Re: Panthers Draft Outlook

I respectfully disagree on your picks...

I think we trade Peppers to Detroit. We save the 2010 Pick to go after Tim Tebow. We suffer with Delhomme but send a strong message by picking up Michael Vick in the Summer.

Of course I wouldn't use Vick as a QB instead put him at WR opposite Steve Smith [Pick Your Poison]. I think Vick/Smith could become the most dangerous tandem of recievers seen on offense anywhere in football.

So back to the draft boards.... who do we pick? I know the guy has had his stock fall tremendously but in the 3rd I would take a flyer on Andre Smith OT Alabama. He could be a nice addition to the O line.

We need to draft smart and draft for position but there are going to be a bunch of suprises in the draft this season. Marty Hurney will determine his future with this draft. FOX/Hurney rolled the dice last year and it looked like they hit paydirt until the playoff debacle. Then they just hit the dirt. I cannot say I blame the players for revolting and wanting to lynch Delhomme. Truth be told every Carolina fan would have been in agreement to can him right after the clock expired. Mat Moore just isn't the answer at QB.

Re: Panthers Draft Outlook

Do you really think Michael Vick could be a receiver? That would really surprise me.

Absolutely, he could still break all the records. Think about it for just one second. Eleven guys have a hard time containing him so what chance does a corner have or even a safety and corner? "0" he would quickly regain his status as the most dangerous man in football. With him playing WR opposite Steve Smith and Moose in the middle it would be a QB's dream. Especially if the QB is Tebow! If they cover the recievers you still have to account for Tebow's running ability. It would almost seem too good to be true.
