Panthers optimistic?

Look I don't see the reason for all the optimism. Your two best draft picks are both sporting injuries [Stewart,Otah] so is the QB and several mystery illnesses have popped up like Peppers. They lost perhaps the best defensive lineman in Kris jenkins, Mike Rutger retired and they have had numerous changes in personell signing old old veterans. So why is the Charlotte paper report them as optimistic? Does Jerry Richardson really believe a running back and one offensive lineman can change a defense that only turned in 23 sacks last season? I don't. Frankly the Panthers need to find a way to get jason taylor on the left end of this defense this season if they want a chance at winning or sacking the QBs.

Teams are optimistic every year. Usually it is catching but apparently it hasnt caught onto you.
Delhomme was out last year so that has to be positive. Signing old vets isnt a good move. How old is Moose compared to Smith?
I like that Jason Taylor scenario too. But dont think it will happen.

What do you want the Panthers to tell the media? That they suck?

Didn't the Lions do that with their brilliant "F**K e'm till next year" slogan?

No I want REAL CHANGE and a COMMITMENT from management to winning. How? Start with getting Jason Taylor in here trade with Miami. Secondly get rid of the larda$$e$ in the middle of our Defensive Line and get some speed. Third get a tight end who can CATCH the ball! Lastly find a real Fullback somebody who is determined to hit somebody and knock them on thier rear-end on every play. I want to see fire and desire from the players for my PSL money I want to see wins for the ticket prices they charge me. I want to see brilliant coaching and gutsy playcalling I want to see the opposing QB look up at me in in the stands because he is lying on his backside after a sack. I don't think that is too much to ask... Mr. Richardson doesn't mind asking for my money so I don't mind asking for a good product on the field.

Yeah, I'd like to see more fans take this kind of attitude. How far off from being a serious contender do you think the Panthers are, anyway?

Mind you this is a perfect world:

Jason Taylor Left DE
A Tight End who can catch the ball.
A Smashmouth Fullback
A Fast Outside Linebacker

Re: Panthers optimistic?

Taylor may be available. Shockey may be available. There's two, but it'll probably cost you next year's draft to make it happen. Worth it?

Win now or else.... be optimistic losers. Next season does not help now. Heck next season Julius Peppers will be gone and so will a bunch of other guys. Don't think Steve Smith doesn't want to be traded. He might not be saying anything publicly but privately this is the last chance before the Panthers implode.
