Panthers hope to borrow page from Ravens' championship playbook
Duluth News Tribune, MN - 4 hours ago
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Carolina Panthers are hoping to develop middle linebacker Dan Morgan into the next Ray Lewis, borrowing a 2000 Baltimore Ravens strategy that relied on two massive defensive tackles to plug the center so the middle linebacker could make key plays.

Re: Dan Morgan: The Next Ray Lewis?

That's a pretty bold statement. Sure, the kid has some big ol' DTs in front of him now, but that won't magically make him as good a linebacker as Lewis. Anyone think Morgan has what it takes to be that kind of dominant MLB?

I to like the Morgan kid...but as much as I dislike Lewis...He is not in the same class...though Grozny might argue different...(Hurricane fan and all)

Re: Dan Morgan: The Next Ray Lewis?

I'm a Cane fan so I think I have authority to answer this question.

Morgan was one of the best LB ever to play at Miami and the most decorated defensive player ever at the school (at least for one season). His performance in Super Bowl XXXVIII was simply amazing (25 tackles) and he has shown promise. Unfortunately, he has been injured far too often to think he can take the physical punishment that is required to play such a role, IMO. He has the range and intangibles to be as good as Lewis though.
