Vinnie Testaverde or David Carr?

Who should be the Panthers starting QB for the rest of the season, Vinnie Testaverde or David Carr?

According to the Associated Press, "When asked Tuesday who would start Carolina's next game, coach John Fox signaled it was an open competition between David Carr and Testaverde... 'I think right now we're going to evaluate it as we go,' Fox said. 'I think it's good to have options. We didn't have these same options a week ago or really the last couple of weeks. I'm not going to commit to it now.'"

Cool Re: Vinnie Testaverde or David Carr?

I would play Carr if he was healthy, Vinnie had his game, but he can't keep it up.

agreed. I think Carr presents the best opportunity for the Panther's to win.

Re: Vinnie Testaverde or David Carr?

Me too. David Carr has shown some promise this year. Vinny is almost 44, the Colts are 6-0. Start Carr.

Hey, you can always put Vinny in the game.

Also, start DeAngelo Williams over DeShaun.

Re: Vinnie Testaverde or David Carr?

True, Vinnie's 44. But even at that age, he's playing better ball than Carr. So what, if he was younger, would this debate go the other way?

I think it would go the other way if Vinnie was younger. He can't escape a big D lineman coming at him at his age.

Cool Re: Vinnie Testaverde or David Carr?

When Testeverde came back to the Jets a couple of years ago, he started off great and then he fell apart.

Carr must not be healthy. ESPN is reporting Vinnie will get the start this Sunday.

Cool Re: Vinnie Testaverde or David Carr?

Fox said Carr isn't 100%. Look for Bob Sanders to have a good game.

Re: Vinnie Testaverde or David Carr?

Sound like John Fox has made is decision, and I'm not sure it's going to make Panthers fans happy.

Fox makes it clear: Testaverde is Panthers starter over Carr - NFL - Yahoo! Sports
By MIKE CRANSTON, AP Sports Writer
November 21, 2007

For weeks, Carolina Panthers coach John Fox has been careful not to name a No. 1 quarterback, saying the decision to use Vinny Testaverde or David Carr would be based on their health.

After both players practiced Wednesday, Fox made it clear: He's going with the 44-year-old.

"Right now, if everybody is healthy, Vinny will be the starter," Fox said.

While not unexpected, the move is an indictment of Carr, who the Panthers signed to a two-year, $6 million deal in the offseason to back up Jake Delhomme. Since Delhomme was lost to a season-ending elbow injury in Week 3, Carr has sustained two concussions and a back injury.

Re: Vinnie Testaverde or David Carr?

The choice of Carr or Testeverde reminds me of when I was a kid and my mother asked if I wanted liver for supper or veal. I went hungry those nights.

Re: Vinnie Testaverde or David Carr?

Does this spell the end of Carr's career as a QB. His bad play was always placed on the line not giving him time to throw. Now he is being outplayed by a 44 yr old. Are the excuses over for him?
