| Quarterback David Carr, the first overall pick in the 2002 draft, agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Carolina Panthers early Friday morning, according to a league source. Carr, 27, made the decision after returning from a two-day visit with the Seattle Seahawks and meeting with his wife at their California home late Thursday night. Carr had visited with the Panthers Monday and Tuesday. The financial terms of the deal weren’t immediately available. The Panthers obviously don’t view Carr as the typical backup. Coach John Fox has said several times that Jake Delhomme, who struggled at times last season, remains the starter. But Carr, who has made 75 career starts, could provide a viable alternative if Delhomme struggles again. Charlotte Observer | 04/06/2007 | Panthers agree to terms with QB David Carr |

| Re: Panthers sign QB David Carr Well, Carr has a chance to start in Carolina (if Delhomme stuggles) and the line isn't half bad. I guess I can understand his decision to sign with the Panthers. He'll be surrounded by more talented players on the whole. Still, it is surprising that he chose a place where he'll clearly be going in as the backup, hoping that the guy ahead of him plays his way out of the starting lineup instead of having a shot to play his way into it.

| That's true, but Carolina made it clear to Carr that he's the backup. I was just surprised that Carr didn't go to a place where he could start in game 1. Cleveland would have made the most sense to me. Even Buffalo. Some team like that who needs an upgrade at QB. |

| Re: Panthers sign QB David Carr Wrong, wrong, wrong, Carr is an insurance policy. Jake is the man even if he struggles he is still the man. The Panthers problems stem from not being able to give the gunslinger time to find the targets. The running game is non-exsistent. If that gets addressed in the draft or trade then the Panthers stand a good chance of going deep into the playoffs. |

| Re: Panthers sign QB David Carr Stoney, my man... you're buying into the company line. They have to say that because they don't want Delhomme to lose confidence. They were at the end of their rope with Jake last year. Hence, Carr. If he stuggles coming out of the gate, you have my personal guarantee that Fox will not hesitate to make the move. |
