Panthers WR Smith faking injury?

There's a rumor going around that Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith is either faking or milking his hamstring injury in an attempt to get more money and a contract extension.

Smith, of course, is denying it, telling the AP: "For the people who are insulting me and this organization, who think I'm going to stoop down to that level, that's not me... There are a lot of other things I can be doing if I'm holding out. I can go home. I can go to the lake house with my family. I can do a lot of things more important than to make a (fool) out of myself and the organization. You're foolish to think that."

What do you guys think about the rumor? Is Smith legitimately hurt or is this a money grab?

Cool Re: Panthers WR Smith faking injury?

It sounds far fetched to me.

Re: Panthers WR Smith faking injury?

I highly doubt Smith is faking an injury. I'm sure he wants to win and without his prescence, the Panthers are 0-2. If he could have, he would have played.

Well, just to play devil's advocate here - what better way to prove to a team that you're worth more money than to sit out two games for a Super Bowl contender and have them go 0-2 to start the season without you? Still, I agree with you guys. I don't think he's faking, not Steve Smith.

No not Steve Smith! He's a winner who wants to play. He's not Randy Moss.
