Stanley Cup Champions Carolina Hurricanes

Congrats to the 2006 Stanley Cup Champions Carolina Hurricanes, who beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 in the decisive Game 7. What do you think about this team's amazing NHL Playoff triumph?

I think Carolina winning the cup is a microcosm of Mike Milbury's absolute failure as Islanders GM. Of course I'm referring to Peter Laviolette who was fired after making the playoffs 2 years in a row and replaced with Steve Stirling, a career minor league coach. That's what I think.

Best team won, for sure. It's painful to see the Cup go so far south, but so be it - that's hockey.

Maybe Canada should just break off from this watered down NHL...form the CNHL...take the game back to its pure roots...well, they can invite the members of the original 6.

I'd hate to be so exclusive - I'd just like the Canadian teams to maybe win the cup every now and then. or one of the original six.

Good point Gotham. They should disband a couple of teams. If you had 3 teams to get rid of in the NHL, who would it be?

1) The Florida Panthers - Do we really need 2 Florida teams in the NHL?
2) Atlanta Thrashers - Or at the very least, give them back the name the Flames and then there call the Calgary team the Calgary Snowmen.
3) Tampa Bay Lightning - Do we really need 1 team in Florida?

Hey...bite your tongue of course we need those Florida teams...this is the place where New Yorkers come to die...sooo cut us a break...

How about a half-half franchise...one that plays half of its home games in Tampa and then half in a smaller Canadain Market...a dual ownership of sort?

I'd get rid of the Blues and the Coyotes...

Nashville!!! C'mon - is that a place for a hockey team?
Ideally, you should only have teams where it snows. That Florida ice steams too much.

When the Panthers win the cup, maybe...I still can't believe Bertuzzi's a panther. seems...wrong.
I'm up for it, GDK.
