| Glen Wesley retires 20-year veteran defenseman Glen Wesley, the last remaining Hartford Whaler still on the roster, is retiring. According to the Associated Press, "The Hurricanes said Thursday that Wesley would move into the front office as the team’s director of development for defensemen. The team will retire his No. 2 jersey next season... He ranks sixth in NHL history among defensemen with 1,457 games played. | Re: Glen Wesley retires we had him ever so briefly and then he skated on back to North Carolina. I would say so - he is definitely a Hurricane hero. He's also dedicated to the team. They love him. |
