The 6-2, 200-pound Ruutu, chosen with the No. 9 pick in the 2001 draft, has 48 goals and 108 points in 228 career games.
Ladd has appeared in 43 games for the Hurricanes this season scoring nine goals and 18 points with 31 penalty minutes - plus he was on the Cup-winning team.

A side note; They said he got the our arena about 10 minutes before the game. He then played the game and in the 3rd period he gets a stick to the eye and gets 40 stiches. They said he looked rough with his eye swollen shut but he still had a big smile on his face (my kind of player). Welcome to the Cane's Ruutu!

Ruutu is decent, but he isn't a Heatley or anything obviously. With the loss of Commodor and Stillman, Carolina needed all the help they could get, but they still need something better then Ruutu to ensure a playoff spot.
