Newman wins 1st truck start

Ryan Newman was very impressive at Atlanta. The day was dominated by Hornaday, but in the end Newman pulled off a helluva manuever on the last lap in 1&2 to get by Hornaday and pull away for the victory. Another good race for the CTS.

That was a good race today!

Now the NW boys are getting ready to drop the green! Great day for racing, on a rainy Delaware day!

Re: Newman wins 1st truck start

I missed this one completely. I read the write up in today's fish wrapper and it sounds like Newman and Hornaday pretty much raced for the win. What a concept! I still hate to see a Cup Raider win, even if it is Ryan.

The paper said something about yet another of NA__AR convenient "phantom yellows" late in the race to get Benson close to the front, or something like that? Hornaday said "I'll still wanting to see what the debris was." Anyone got any insight or opinions on this one? I'm honestly in the dark.

Now I wish I had. I was doing some stuff around the house, and had it on as I was working.

When the last couple of laps was up, I sat down and watched the end.

I'll have to catch the last half hour of the replay now!

That was a great race.

But then, the Truck Series has a lot of great races.

They absolutely raced for the win.
As for the caution. Hornaday was just fixing to pass Benson and put him a lap down, and wham a debris caution ( of which debris was never shown) came out and saved Benson's butt.

Cup Raider or not, Newman ran a great race. I'm glad he didn't 'let' Hornaday have the win.

And a top 5 for Speed... yeah, I enjoyed this race.

Re: Newman wins 1st truck start

Once more, 'Ol Kevie has built up some points in Tanner's Book.

No team orders. I caught the last few laps this afternoon on the SPEED replay and they rep[orted that they asked Kevin about Newman letting Hornaday win and Kevin was said to reply, "Hell no! We don't race like that!"

I also saw Hornaday throwing a hissy to Harvick after the race, pointing, gesturing with his hands, etc. You can't tell what was being said but it was obvious that Ron was not a happy camper. Kevin was just smiling. In thugball-speak, that was a three-pointer!

If Harvick keeps doing things like this my opinion of him is going to change for the better.

Wow... I missed Hornaday's hissy fit! I had heard that Harvick was reported to say that too. Sheesh... I don't know how I would feel if I won a Championship on points that were there because a team mate 'let' me win.

Kudos to Kevin!

If Hornaday loses to Benson by less than ten points, it'll be intersting.

Re: Newman wins 1st truck start

I thought Ron was throwin a fit over the whole phantom-debris caution... and apparently Harvick did say that.... they made note of it durin the cup race.

I don't know what he was P'ing and M'ing about but Kevie wasn't letting it bother him. I'm beginning to think this kid as a future in NA__AR.

BTW, I saw a brief bit of the pre-race replay and the lovely Ms.H. wasn't wearing her usual hat? More points.

Kevie came up running late models on short tracks and she was literally raised at a race track. I'm starting to see some things to like about Ken and Barbie.
