| Benson takes checkered, points lead in Martinsville Johnny Benson finally finished ahead of Ron Hornaday as Benson won his career-high fifth Truck Series race this season after taking the checkered flag in the Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway, and the point swing was huge as Hornaday ran out of fuel running second with four laps to go. | Re: Benson takes checkered, points lead in Martinsville I thought it was a pretty good race. Three dominant trucks, one of which was obviously not going to even try to win, (you just have to luv these "team efforts!) and a lot of "back in the pack" action. I thought the officiating was a bit bizarre. First of all, why can a truck slap the wall and spin, and the yellow flag never falls, yet when a Cup car does the same thing it's a toss up whether the red flag will come out of not? Also, I believe the call to not drop a caution when Harvick was dead in the water on the back stretch with a lap and a half to go was an invitation to disaster. The trucks who lost positions due to that last-lap wreck have, IMO, a legitimate complaint. I don't know if the announcer's claim that Harvick almost spun Benson because, "He roughed up my other truck (which was a BS statement if I ever heard one) and I just repaid the favour," was legitimate or just another example of announcer-induced drama. But if it was, it's BS and just Harvick being Harvick. Finally, PLEASE get Mikey out of the booth! Irritating and distracting are two of the more positive things I can say about his performance. His constantly working Aaron's into every situation is really getting old. It wasn't one of CTS' better races but it was a good, non-manipulated race where the trucks drove to win, not just get points. How about Scott Speed? He came from the back not once, but twice and still had a top ten finish (7th). I might even watch the prima dona's today, just to see how he does.
