Sprague replaces Cook in No. 60 Wyler Racing truck

Wyler Racing announced Tuesday that three time Truck Series champion Jack Sprague will pilot the No. 60 Wyler Racing Toyota for the remainder of the 2008 season, beginning with the race at Martinsville on Oct. 18. Sprague, who currently sits eighth in the Truck Series standings, replaces Terry Cook who has been released after competing in the first 20 races of the season for the team.

Yeah, I hate to see Terry get the boot but he hasn't exactly been setting the series on fire lately. (But then Sprague hasn't either...???)

I think it had to do with the organization. I could be wrong though.

I think you're right. Mixing Hornaday and Sprague is like Communism; it always looks good on paper and, in theory, is a good deal, but in actuality it just plain bites a big one and doesn't take into consideration individuality and personal desires.

Jack has a mindset probably more like the late Dale Sr. than any other driver out there. He is driven to win, he has an unbelievable talent and he doesn't play well with others. About the only driver I can remember him successfully sharing an owner with was Ricky Hendrick (there was maybe another but it slips my mind for the moment) and I don't remember he and Ricky being especially close.

Also remember, Wyler (one-truck team)is the team he drove for the last two seasons and he had two good years. good year. Before that he had a good year with Bob Feuge (another one-truck team). The year before that, when he came back from BGN he had a decent year with Steve Coulter (another one-truck team if I recall correctly). Do you see a pattern as to the type of teams where Jack finds success?

Are you saying he needs to be the only driver? I didn't think he and Hornaday would really make good team mates. Glad to see he got another ride for the rest of the year.

No, Jack did pretty well when he was partnered with Ricky Hendrick in...? 2000 or 2001 (darn memory!) But, Ricky was no Hornaday.

But, historically, Sprague does seem to do better when he's obviously the biggest dog in the kennel, even if that means being the only dog there.

Or, that my observation, anyway. He's not the only one. Big Dale was that way, as was Rusty Wallace. Ditto Cale Yarborough.

Here's an interesting switch. It's too bad. Two years ago they had a contender with Con-Way Trucking. Then Con-Way jump to Roush and Wyler has been on the ropes since. Now it appears they might be hitting the canvas.

It's a shame.
