California preseason rankings

The California Golden Bears have been ranked in the top 10 in the country in five different polls. The rankings are:

#6 Street & Smiths
#7 ESPN.com
#8 SI.com
#8 Athlon Sports
#9 Lindys

Do you think that Cal is worthy of such recognition? Is there anyway that Cal can climb higher? Could it be possible that Cal will fall off of the face of the Earth? Any opinion is welcome!

I think they will go as far as Heisman Candidate Marshawn Lynch can carry them....

Here is a new website for the star back...campaigns for the Heisman start early.

Cal Launches Website for Marshawn Lynch :: Heisman candidate is featured on www.Marshawn10.com.

Thanks, Gotham. I had put a link in the thread"RB Lynch...". Having another tie wont be that bad. You don't think anyone else can do anything to carry the team?

Re: California preseason rankings

How about Justin Forsett? According to Street & Smith, "In juniors Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett, Cal has one of the top tailback tandems in the country." Over 2,200 yards and 16 touchdowns combined last year - definitely a running attack to be feared, especially as the team will feature a new starting QB.

You mean like Bush and White?...I just don't see it...I think Marshawn is coming into his own...and the other dude is jsut taking away from the call of the Heisman.

I think you are right Gotham, Marshawn will be the feature back. Cal will run some 2-back formations, with the extra back as a blocker most of the time.

Re: California preseason rankings

Obviously Marshawn Lynch is a huge part of this team but I think that ultimately they will go as far as their Quarterbacks take them. That is a huge question mark right now. If the QB's (Longshore, Ayoob, Levy) can step up and work with some pretty good receivers to take some pressure off of the RB's then the bears will be very successful.

Burlington, welcome to GoTeamsGo! Due to technical diffucukties, I have been a little remiss in my duties. Unfortunately, this is going to be a two-way street. The QB's will take pressure off of the RB's and vice versa. Ultimately, Marshawn Lynch will have a lot of pressure to perform because he is a Heisman hopeful. I hope you come back and keep discussing things with us, maybe even start some discussions of your own!.
