| Golden Bears practice report Yesterday was Cal's first full-pad practice. According to the team's website, "The Bears continued to fine tune both the offense and defense in the 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 sessions. Quarterback Nate Longshore utilized tight ends Craig Stevens and Cameron Morrah on a few occasions and found DeSean Jackson for a pair of long gains. Freshmen Jahvid Best and Shane Vereen continued their impressive camps with several long runs, while Justin Forsett displayed some nifty cutbacks and runs for sizeable gains... Defensively, Brett Johnson had an interception, while defensive backs Gary Doxy and Brandon Hampton recorded a pair of pass breakups. John Allen and Zack Follett both recorded sacks as well." "The one-on-one drills also featured the defensive backs vs. the wide receivers, which included DeSean Jackson making a nifty one-handed grab around the defender... Other 11-on-11 highlights included a pair of long receptions by LaReylle Cunningham (from Kevin Riley) and Drew Glover from Bryan Van Meter... Cal received defensive contributions from Anthony Felder (a big run-stuffing hit in the 11-on-11s), Zack Follett (fumble recovery) and Charles Johnson (interception)." | Re: Golden Bears practice report Here's what Jeff Tedford has to say following Friday's practice. "I thought our first offensive line played pretty well; the pass protection and run blocking. I felt like our running backs ran pretty well with real good vision and made good cuts. Defensively, we still need to solidify who are front is going to be and keep giving people reps." Here's the report: "After working on their customary training such as protection drills, one-on-ones and ball handling sessions, the Golden Bears went into an 11-on-11 routine for 12 plays. Quarterback Nate Longshore found DeSean Jackson on a pair of routes, while also utilizing Lavelle Hawkins and Robert Jordan. Cal continued to receive solid freshman production, including a good yardage run by Shane Vereen, who shuffled around the defenders on a few occasions."
