Cal's Final Spring Practice

The California football team will hold its final spring practice on Saturday afternoon beginning at 2 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. The event is free and open to the public, however, due to an event at the Greek Theatre, the University will be charging $15 for parking in the stadium area. The practice will involve the team conducting its usual sessions of drills and training sessions. There will NOT be a scrimmage, although some 11-on-11 drills are expected to take place.

Cal Football Wraps Up Spring Drills

The California football team wrapped up its spring drills on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium with a hard-hitting practice which went just over two hours. The team primarily scrimmaged in various game situations with extensive 11-on-11 action before a crowd of over 2,000 fans on an overcast afternoon.

Quarterbacks Nate Longshore and Kyle Reed received the most action while junior Bryan Van Meter and sophomore Cory Smits also had opportunities to direct the offense. Longshore completed 9-of-13 passes on the day for 130 yards. He connected on three touchdowns on the afternoon - a 30-yard connection to junior DeSean Jackson (49 receiving yards), a goal-line slant to senior Sean Young and a short hook-up with senior tight end Craig Stevens during goal-line situations.

Defensively, junior linebacker Zack Follett and junior end Rulon Davis both came up with crowd-pleasing hits, while sophomore linebacker Eddie Young repeatedly made his presence felt with tackles. Sophomore Marcus Ezeff and senior Thomas DeCoud both tallied interceptions.
