Junior offensive lineman Alex Mack of the California football team was selected to the preliminary watch list for the Rotary Lombardi Award, presented by Wachovia Bank on Tuesday. Mack joins 42 other players from around the country on the watch list. Last season, Michigan defensive end LaMarr Woodley won the 37th annual award.

Anyway, what can you Cal fans tell me about this kid Mack? What kind of prospect are we looking at here?

Lefty, if you read the article, you would have seen that he was voted to ESPN's All-Bowl Team during his performance during the Holiday Bowl. He's the center for the o-line that blocked for Lynch and Forsett during the year. Only a Junior this year, he should stay with the program for two more years, get some more seasoning, and will become an awesome lineman for any pro team that picks him up!

Cool, but... better run blocker or pass blocker? How's his strength, technique, footwork, etc.?

Admittedly, I didn't pay much attention to the linemen this last season, but, he had to have been good to be on the watch list for the award this next season. depending on how well the Bears do, Mack should make the final list.
