Stanford-Cal

I know its still two weeks away and it won't mean much once it happens, but hopefully it will still be a good game. Anyone got a great tailgating plan?

Hi Janellafreeman, welcome to GoTeamsGo

You're right, should be a great game. I'm a Vol fan but will be pulling for the Golden Bears to win out this year. I think you've got a decent chance. Do you think you can get past USC this weekend?

Look forward to chatting with you more.

Welcome to GoTeamsGo Janella! I hope youu are a regular visitor to my little corner of the GTG universe. Unfortunately, I live up in Lake Tahoe and cannot go to games. However, the Cal-Stanford game means a lot to the teams every year. When you were going to high school, didn't the game against the rival school mean a lot to in terms of pride, even if it didn't mean much in terms of standings? That's the way this game is and a lot of others in the country. Army-Navy is another one of these type of games. Cal-Stanford won't mean much in the standings, it will mean a lot to the two schools.

Re: Stanford-Cal

Yeah, Cal-Stanford is one of those "throw the records out the window" kind of rivalry games. No matter what either team's winning percentages are, it ALWAYS means something. I assume you're going, Janellafreeman? If so, hope you enjoy the game!

Bowl-Bound California Closes Regular Season With 109th Big Game Against Stanford

After its second bye week of the season, the California Golden Bears return to Memorial Stadium looking for their fifth straight victory in the Big Game. Cal currently has an 8-3 overall record and has wrapped up at least a tie for second place in the Pac-10. Stanford, meanwhile, has posted a 1-10 mark. A victory would also mark Cal's 15th nine-win season, including its second in five years under head coach Jeff Tedford.

Re: Stanford-Cal

Hey everyone, I don't know how accurate this is, but people here on the Stanford campus keep talking about some fraternities doing a promo stunt to get on TV during the game. Has anyone else heard about this? Weird rumors are flying all over the place here.

It's just another thing to look out for if you're watching the game on TV. Also, it's just another reminder that rivalry games can be pretty weird. Go figure.

Well, someone posted that fact in a different thread in this forum. Of course, since I live where I live, I have a buffer against that stupidity!

Oh, yeah, Cal over Stanford 41-13!

No. 21 Cal Wins Big Game for Fifth Straight Year

Nate Longshore passed for 217 yards and No. 21 California survived a bitter wind and stubborn Stanford for a 26-17 victory in the 109th Big Game on Saturday. Justin Forsett had 75 of his 67 yards rushing in the fourth quarter as the Golden Bears (9-3, 7-2 Pac-10) barely did enough to beat the Cardinal (1-11, 1-8) for the fifth straight year.
