Game 5 - Flames vs. Red Wings

The home team has won every game in the Calgary-Detroit series and the Red Wings are hoping the trend continues at Joe Louis Arena in Game 5 on Saturday versus the Flames... "The bottom line is we have to hold serve here," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said Friday... The Western Conference's top-seeded team got off to a blazing start in the first-round series, beating the Flames 4-1 and 3-1 in games that seemed more lopsided than the scores indicated... Calgary responded by tying the best-of-seven series with consecutive 3-2 victories at home, where it won an NHL-high 30 games during the regular season.

Red Wings hope form holds in playoff series against Flames

Re: Game 5 - Flames vs. Red Wings

5-1 for the red wings. back to calgary, and here's hoping the trend continues and we get a game 7.
Bad slash from back up goalie McLennan on John Franzen was a bad spot. mclennan went in when Detroit got to 5 and there was 3:18 left to play - but McLennan was on the ice for only 18 seconds, then was penalized for slashing and got a match penalty and a game misconduct.
He will probably get a suspension for that.
Lotta fighting, lotta hits. langkow had a mix up with brett lebda.
And Cleary's a question now after falling into the boards and being helped up off the ice.

Re: Game 5 - Flames vs. Red Wings

"At that point it's about carrying over the energy for Game 6," said Iginla. "We're not going away. We'll be ready for tomorrow."

Quote from the Calgary Sun, Iginla explaining his team's cheap hack ending to the game.

What a class act that Calgary team is. Really, this is hockey, but Calgary cemented its reputation as a no-class, cheap hack team. Pathetic. If I were from Calgary, I'd be mortified that this team was representing my town.
