GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - The Phoenix Coyotes went from desperation to celebration in a matter of minutes.
Shane Doan scored 54 seconds into overtime to lift Phoenix past the Calgary Flames 3-2 on Thursday night and snap the Coyotes' six-game losing streak. Doan's goal capped a furious five minutes for the Coyotes. Steven Reinprecht sent it into overtime with a goal with 4:50 remaining and Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff stopped a handful of other scoring chances.
"We got desperate," said Doan, who reached 20 goals for the sixth straight season. "We played more desperate at the end because we needed to find a way to win."
