Connolly, Afinogenov both hurt

Connolly is out indefinitely, bone spur in hip. They thought it was a groin sprain but it's turned out to be more serious. He'll be playing through pain if and when he does get back, and he will need surgery in the summer.
Speaking of groins, Afinogenov is out with a groin tear. He's expected to be back by the end of the week.
Not good news for the lagging Sabres. two power forwards, gone.
Connolly is tied for fifth on the team with 29 points (five goals and 24 assists) in 34 games. But Afingenov has been struggling- 7 goals and 11 assists in 38 games. He's missed ten games already.

Re: Connolly, Afinogenov both hurt

he may be but the press says that connolly just has to work through the pain until next season when he will have to get it removed. he will play soon, but at 100%? depends on how he feels.
man if anyone should be frustrated right now its that guy. he has missed 195 out of a possible 328 games. could u imagine? watching more games than playing? i miss him for our power play, it needs a boost, but at least its better than it was last year. (at least its ranked )
so...tampa bay tonight? im not too worried. tampa bay is a weak team that depends too heavily on stars like lecavalier and st. louis to score for them. they dont have the chemistry our team COULD have but DOESN'T because the sabres arent playing up to their best.
im actually looking forward to tonights game. every win counts now. they cant slack off and suffer a loss, or else theyre done. as always, im not giving up, so GO SABRES!!

well its about time someone recognized that! but if u think about it theres no real reason to give up...the sabres have made the eastern conference finals in the past 2 years and won the presidents trophy for the first time ever. about the two losses, they still have miller and a lot of stars like vanek and connolly that could carry this team. some injuries might bring them down but i rly think theyre gonna be one of the best teams after the all star break.

Re: Connolly, Afinogenov both hurt

yea and about the florida sweep...sabres dominated in both games. i didnt see florida get a real good opportunity to score up until the 3rd period when miller made that great save. and lecavalier and st louis were shut down, i dont think they scored a point, at least not a goal. unfortunately theyre on the rise but so are we. young players are finally beginning to turn this team around - macarthur has to stay up here, hes on such a streak and he has lifted this team to wins. and i no every1 thinks vanek sucks and is getting overpaid, but he is also on a 3 game point streak. he still has a ways to go, but there is enough time to turn the season around. roy, paille, pominville too, theyre all contributing greatly to the winning cause - roy especially has turned it on lately and he looks like the guy that will lead this team the rest of the season. miller is playing his best and finally his team is able to win games because of that. the florida game was tough, but all that was needed was 1 goal, and miller took care of the rest. cant wait to watch the game tonight!! (after i get out of work at 830 ...game starts at 730 so ill miss up until half of the 2nd i think. o well at least ill see the 3rd period. )

Re: Connolly, Afinogenov both hurt

Connolly and Afinogenov may be hurt, but people are saying they will be traded... Campbell for Oli Jokinen will be an awesome trade, but I think FLA could throw in a draft pick.

Vanek
Jokinen
Hecht

FIRST LINE!

Kotalik
Roy
Afinogenov

SECOND LINE!

Stafford
Connolly
Pominville

THIRD LINE!

MacArthur
Gaustad
Paille

FOURTH LINE!
A pretty good team. Who knows. Jokinen might shape up Vanek.

Re: Connolly, Afinogenov both hurt

Golisano is also responsible for this bad season for the Sabres, but through the time the band wagoners I know betrayed me, I still believe. I would give a foot for the Sabres, but not a kidney sorry Sabres.

Anyways! If we had a better owner we would have Drury and probably have people from other teams at the trade deadline. Campbell is an all-star defencemen. And really, he is worth a lot in the market. Who knows. We could get Cheecho. He ain't playing well.

welcome Oli.
So you think come February trade deadline, that Buffalo's going to make some big changes, then?

Re: Connolly, Afinogenov both hurt

Thanks for the welcome.
Honestly, I have no idea with what might happen. Last year we got some players for one goalie, and this year we might get someone, as long as Golisano makes the right choice. We could sign Campbell too, but we can get some great offers at the trade deadline.
