well let me just say that i underestimated the sabres A LOT before the game yesterday - i thought it would be much closer than what resulted. i mean every1 knows now how dangerous pittsburgh is and is going to be in the playoffs. but they certainly didnt look like a team with 100 points. the sabres did what they had to, played like they had to, and had the intensity that we all know they are capable of dishing out.
the final score yesterday was 4-1, in the sabres favor of course. goals from pominville, vanek, roy, and kalinin. whats important to note is that vanek now has 40 goals, the first sabre to do that sice satan in 1998 ('99?).
the whole game, the sabres pretty much dominated. i dont think crosby got any points, and if he did, it was an assist, but im pretty sure he was held pointless. the pens couldnt get anything set up in the sabres zone and besides that dumb goal there wouldnt have ben any goals scored. special teams played a huge role last night as there were 14 penalties. what i mean by "a big role" is not that buffalo scored 4 powerplay goals or anything like that - they didnt score any in fact - but what was remarkable was that the pens went 0 for 8 on the powerplay last night. incredible. the sabres deserve some credit from holding back the pens star players 8 times on the powerplay as they couldnt manage to score. that was probably the underlying cause for the pens' failure.
the game started off slow but, all of a sudden, as we have come to expect in buffalo, the sabres just flipped on the switch and went into maximum overdrive. they scored 2 goals in the 3rd about a minute apart from eachother to make it impossible for the penguins to win the game. this alone tore the penguins apart - they had no more life afterwards. and thats what buffalo has got to start doing every game - turning their game up at the right time to catch the other team offguard and win. if any1 can do it, its them, and believe me, theyve done it so much this year.
now that the sabres clinched the division and conference, they are eyeing the presidents trophy. and they have a very good shot at winning it. they are only 1 point behind detroit who has 109 points right now but has 1 game on hand. and the great thing about this is the sabres have a relatively easy schedule these last 3 games of the season - boston tomorrow, washington saturday, and philadelphia sunday. all non-playoff teams, all very beatable. then again, the red wings have to face the blackhawks twice to end the season so i guess their schedule is light too. its that game on hand that will put the sabres over the top. they just need to end the season with 3 wins. (COME ON SABRES!! )
so a real good game and an increasing anticipation for the playoffs gives me a lot to be excited about. i hope other fans feel the same. so i end with LETS GO SABRES!! LETS GO FOR IT ALL THIS YEAR!!

OMG....and I know this is gonna sound childish...but I just HAVE to vent!!! I was sickened by the game announcers. It was aired on VS network here (as you Buffaloians know). No matter what happened, all we heard was Crosby this Crosby that, Pittsburgh this, Pittsburgh that. Ummm....excuse me...did those idiot announcers realize that there were TWO teams playing?????????

And as for Crosby...well hmmm....I'm not taking ANY credit away from him....he is a great player....but uhhhh....Buffalo has FOUR players with well over 30 goals (and one with 40) and if you look at the percentage of goals vs. assists, Crosby's percentage is 31% goals vs. 69% assists, whereas Briere is 50% goals vs. 50% assists, Vanek has 40 goals vs. 39 assists, Drury (the Hockey God) has 37 goals vs. 30 assists, and Pominville has 99% goals vs. 1% assists. So tell me all you hockey fans..think Crosby is so great???

I know he's just a kid....but watching him during the game....he's a crybaby. If you're gonna play in a man's game...then act like a man.

And no...he got no points...and gee, isn't THAT a shame???

u no...we rly do have the best commentator in the league in rick jeanneret...hes not biased...he tells it like it is and makes it a lot more exciting for fans

the sabres have more ROUNDED players like briere, vanek, and drury (and i like how u called him a hockey god...i think u and my sister would get along REALLY well!!)
and crosby is the BIGGEST BABY IN THE WORLD ill agree with u on that. he thinks that any slight pain he feels should be a national headline...like he can NEVER get hurt cuz hes the best. men get hurt. crosby is not one cuz he never did. what do u think of that, penguins fans?

i bet crosby bawled his eyes out cuz he didnt score any points either (and boy am i glad about that!). a superstar is gonna have off games and games with no points but crosby thinks that he has to get points every game or he sucks. well wake up and smell the coffee, ur NOT gonna get points every game! thats just how it happens sometimes.
