man, i love having the games so close to eachother! its always something to look forward to during the week! so tonight, the sabres and islanders, on home ice, will play at 7, faceoff on MSG. its another monumentally huge sabres game as the islanders are only 2 points out of a playoff spot and currently holding 10th place. believe me, at this time of the year, everyone is desperate for points - the east conference is very tight from the top to the bottom (...well, from the top to, oh, lets say the 13th spot...then it kinda trails off from there

). the pressure is on for both teams tonight:
first of all, the sabres are being threatened from all sides. amazingly (and i just checked it out, can u believe it?), the penguins are in 2nd IN THE CONFERENCE! they have 100 points and have now passed new jersey, so theyre only 5 points behind the sabres. theyre gonna b a tough team in the playoffs, i no that, but i dont think anyone was betting on the penguins doing so well this year - even passing NEW JERSEY! - they really put together a lot if wins in the past few months. must be exciting to be a penguins fan. anyway, western teams are knocking on the door for first place as nashville and detroit both are tied with buffalo for 105 points, anaheim with 104, and vancouver with 101.

and u thought the eastern conference was sloppy - that to me is a huge mess! the good news, though, is that the sabres have 2 games in hand with nashville, pittsburgh, and anaheim, and 1 on vancouver and detroit. so the next two games (theyre playing montreal tomorrow away @ 7) are TREMENDOUSLY BIG (i sound like a broken record dont i?

)
as for the islanders: i said before that they need the points if they want the 8th playoff spot. they seem to be falling behind in the standings and if they want any extra games this year theyre gonna have to fight. and theyre gonna b hungry out on the ice so buffalo, the great team that they are, has to play like a 1st place team tonight.
tonights score: 5-1. goals coming from hecht, stafford, kotalik, briere, and pominville. starting in the net? well, u no who i like better so im going with conklin - especially since the sabres have back-to-back games and the canadiens tomorrow are in 8th place and thats gonna b a bigger game.
alright there u have it. the complete rundown of the game tonight and the standings. LETS GO SABRES!!
