WHAT A GREAT GAME! AND WHEN THEY NEEDED IT THE MOST!

the sabres put 4 by the star goaltender to win 4-3 (finally i was right on!). they now are ahead of ottawa, new jersey, and the penguins by 7 points as they look to expand their lead in the east.
recently, it seems that a player or players step up to carry this buffalo team on their shoulders every game. in last nights game against the devils, i saw a few players who really showed themselves well:
first of all, i was very impressed with dainius zubrus. he made things happen last night. the individual effort was there as he gave himself and other teammates many great chances. his protection of the puck is the best ive seen of any player. he crashed the devils defense and ended up getting 1 assist, but anyone who was watching the game knows he oculd have done a lot more.
jochen hecht with 2 goals last night was right where he needed to be for the score. the first goal was a great slapshot from near the blue line. with traffic in front, it was nearly impossible for brodeur to stop it. and then, he scored on what i think was the PLAY OF THE WEEK! briere was skating down the left wing, a defenseman on him. all of a sudden, with a burst of speed and a sick move, he shook the devils player off and raced toward the front of the net. the whole time, he was looking for hecht who was on the other side of the net waiting for the pass. briere connected with hecht's stick, and a perfect shot in the top of the net gave the sabres a 4-2 lead in the 3rd period. it was an amazing play that - i know i say this a lot - that if u missed it, or if u already saw it, SEE IT AGAIN!

but with te sabres, u have to expect a highlight reel play every game, and theyve delivered.
briere had a good game last night too. the individual effort on the 4th goal for the sabres sent the fans into hysteria and left the devils bench in total shock. with that assist, briere now has 90 POINTS (90!!), the first sabre to do that since lafontaine years ago. at this rate, he will likely reach 100 by the end of the season.
and last but not least (and i didnt think id b saying this), miller had a very strong game last night. sure, he should have stopped that 3rd goal right at the end of the game which just blew out all the sabres' momentum, but they still won, and thats all people are gonna remember. he made the big stops when the sabres needed them. and some of the goals he let in could have been prevented in the first game - like the devils first. someone should have been covering gomez in front - the two guys were just standing there and let him get by. but all in all, great job miller, and GREAT GAME SABRES! KEEP ROLLIN ALONG!
