seeing doubles

they say great things come in pairs...but im sure the maple leafs are anything but excited about playing the sabres in a home and home series tonight and tomorrow night. the game tonight is at 8 on MSG, where the sabres will be on their home ice. this is likely to be one of the most crucial series for both the sabres and maple leafs. heres why:
the sabres want to keep a comfortable lead in first as the regular season comes to a close. ottawa is threatening, being only 5 points behind. new jersey is also behind 7, but in order to stay in first, buffalo is going to have to cushion their lead in the east so ottawa cant catch them. 4 points at this time of year is huge, so if buffalo can clinch this mini series, they probably wont have to worry about ottawa until the playoffs.
as for the maple leafs, this series could make or break them. they have now fallen to 11th place with 80 points, but theyre only 2 points behind 8th place carolina. if toronto wants to see more action this year, theyre going to have to get some points. back-to-back wins would be miraculous for them and would likely put them in a playoff spot, but had it been against anyone but the best team in the league, it would have been easier. buffalo has won four of six games aginst toronto and they have much more depth and talented players on their team than does toronto. to the maple leafs, these next two games are going to be like the playoffs - if they lose, theyre done, but if they win, their shot at the playoffs is hopeful. of course, i want the sabres to win both games but i no that it wont be easy for either team. its gonna b great!
now 4 tonight: my prediction is for the sabres to win 4-2. goals will come from roy (whos scored 3 goals in 3 games), pominville, drury, and briere. with kaberle a possibility in the lineup, this game is going to be physical, no doubt, and the sabres are going to have to counter with some offense and defense.
i rly think that tonight, ty conklin is going to start. sabres have 2 games in 2 nights and even a superstar goalie like miller cant handle that. i rly like conklin cuz hes a solid goaltender, doesnt let in the easy shots, and makes great saves. if he doesnt start tonight, expect him in tomorrow.
so for everyone out there whos an avid sabres (or maple leafs) fan, YOU CANNOT MISS THESE GAMES! if u do, u no youre gonna miss out on something good (or vice versa ie. maple leafs )
GO SABRES!!!

Re: seeing doubles

Yeah. Toronto must be desperate to win. Taste it, kind of thing.
So you like Conklin, eh?

Re: seeing doubles

yeah. he seems like a solid backup, more consistent than miller has ben lately. im glad he went in the saturday game for miller, even tho he let in a goal (that again was nearly impossible to stop in the first place). i dont know why buffalo started miller two nights in a row - especially after letting in 4 goals on friday night. they need to get conklin more comfortable in net cuz theyre probably gonna have 2 call on him at some point in the playoffs

Re: seeing doubles

did you see campbell mow down Conklin at one point? It looked like he didn't even acknowledge it at the time as conklin lay turtled, and later they showed Conklin going up to the bench for what looked like a ream out of Campbell - no look from campbell like, Gee sorry man.
Neither loss on the weekend was the goalie's fault, raycroft on fri or Conklin on Sat. Both played well. The losses were lack of offence and poor poor giveaways.

yea whats up with that wild hit? i mean come on theyre on the same team here whats the deal? giveaways sure were plentiful - is it so hard to make a good pass every now and again? and that goal on friday that hit the ref and went right to the toronto guy - that HAD TO BE the CHEAPEST GOAL EVER!! that shouldnt have even counted - stupid refs, always getting in the way, blowing calls. i no they have to have one of the toughest jobs in the world but seriously they could try a little harder

Re: seeing doubles

just look at the huge role he had in the comeback game against the leafs. he scored the game winning goal off a beautiful tip. and then the individual effort by him to score (was it that night or the next one? i cant remember) - wow, hes an awesome hockey player! he'll NEVER move down again (as long as he keeps playing like he is *knock on wood*)
