yes, for the first time in 12 days, after dropping four games (a record for the sabres), they managed to get a win against the florida panthers by a score of 5-3. u wouldnt think, however, that florida dominated for much of the game. in fact, the sabres let florida shoot a record 46 times yesterday. and guess who stopped 43 of them? if u were thinking miller then u were wrong.

in his first start as a sabre, ty conklin showed the sabres population that he can play, and really great at that. conklin had one of the toughest jobs in the NHL yesterday: the sabres needed to get some momentum back and were desperate for a win (funny to say that). and believe me, conklin had to be on top of his game. and he was. a lot of the shots on him were deflections, one - timers, and hard wrist shots. he didnt have a break all night! the shots were relentless, and the 3 goals on him were nearly impossible to save or he wasnt in position to save it cuz he was down from the last shot. i cant believe he didnt get the first star, but id give him 1st star with honors - thats how great he played.
as for my predictions...well, lets just say im no fortune teller. the sabres
did win, but none of the guys that i though would score did.

the sabres' five goals came from stafford (2), pominville, zubrus (wow! hes actually doing something for the sabres!

), and ryan. and u no y they won? it wasnt bcuz they outshot or outplayed the opposition. its cuz they took advantage of the few opportunities to make this game theirs. they had a little more passion in their game, a little more speed and desire, which is something i havent seen in nearly 2 weeks. its a promising sign that buffalo is coming back, but theyre not out of the woods yet. buffalo needs to tighten up their defense so that there wont be so many shots going by them. they also need to be more consistent in their playing cuz even though they scored 5 goals they only scored them on good shifts and didnt have the game well in their hands.
either way i was ecstatic (i guess i like that word) that the sabres won and will hopefully climb their way up to supremacy again
