Martin Biron trade

According to the AP, the Buffalo Sabre have traded G Martin Biron to Philadelphia Flyers for a 2007 second-round pick, and then shipped a fifth-rounder to Columbus for G Ty Conklin. So, what do you think, Sabres fans? Good trades for your club?

Re: Martin Biron trade

No. i think that totally sucks. I think Biron was MORE than a back up. i think it's good for Philly, though.

Re: Martin Biron trade

He seemed to take over lately for a not so perfect miller. That's why I'm shocked. That's why I think there's more to their dastardely plan.

Re: Martin Biron trade

personally im not seeing the real benefits of the trade. i no that buffalo needed cap space 4 additional players but idc about the money, they shouldnt have given away biron who has been an essential part of their team for nearly a decade. i mean we havent seen zubrus done much yet and im only hoping that he comes around, and buffalo is just going to have to see how conklin does in net. it does make me upset, but organizations have 2 make moves like this no matter how tough they are.

Re: Martin Biron trade

to all those people out there who arent very familiar with biron ill fill u in. biron has ben the backbone of the sabres organization for the last decade and has backed up star goalies like hasek and more recently miller to keep buffalo in the game. he stirred up the players on the ice and was a motivator for miller himself because his positive attitude had a resounding effect on how the players played. even tho he only got to start in a few games during a season he showed us that he was goalie worthy and was a solid force in net. of course when every1 thinks of biron now they can only think of that sabres - senators brawl on February 22 but trust me thats not the biron we buffalonians no. and now with one of the worst trades that regier could have made, biron is now off with the 30th placed team in the league who needs all the points they can get just to make the season respectable. if ure keeping up with the news, buffalo was doing good the first couple of games after the trade deadline but now its all going downhill. buffalo has just lost 3 straight games, a season high, with embarrasing losses to the Wild, Avalanche, and Devils, and now, theyre only 1 point in front of New Jersey whose aim is to grab the coveted first spot. because biron left it seems as if the entire team has no life anymore and it really shows. that excitment that buffalo provides has ben fading away recently and it just looks like they have no motivation. why? biron. without him, the team is a wreck, but all im hoping is that conklin can fill his shoes and become a solid backup like biron (and he did pretty good against the wild friday too so who knows).

Re: Martin Biron trade

I have to agree. Conklin's never lit anyone's fire, and I was stunned by the Biron trade.

Re: Martin Biron trade

especially when Miller did seem to hit a wall the last few weeks and Biron had to almost take over.

Re: Martin Biron trade

and thats y biron was so great...every night, whether he would b starting or miller would be off his game, biron would come in and keep the hopes of the players alive. thats what he was always good at and its a shame to see someone like that whos now with a team thats going to be on the outside looking in. i mean he could have won a STANLEY CUP this year! thats got to suck so bad
